Volvo is ambitious about safety. Really ambitious. Their goal as a company is to see no serious injuries caused by accidents in a Volvo vehicle by the year 2020.

Yeah. In five years' time, Volvo hopes their cars will never collide with another vehicle, object, or pedestrian. If they do, their passengers will be protected.

It sounds like a whale of a feat, but that future may be closer than you think. Volvo's IntelliSafe suite of safety features already makes it near impossible to collide with something, even if you were trying.

Adaptive cruising uses sensors to keep a set distance between you and the car in front of you. 360° camera lets you see all obstacles, and sensors also detect pedestrians and obstacles in front of the vehicle. Your Volvo will give you a warning to let you know of the danger, and will even brake for you, if you don't brake in time.

These are features that are already going into use on vehicles currently for sale on our lot.

Volvo is pushing even further with a test program of 1,000 cars that will be connected via cloud technology, and will transmit data to each other about road conditions. This is happening now in Sweden and Norway, but if it works out, you can expect to see connected cars appearing at North Point Volvo before you know it.
