Your vehicle maintenance routine should definitely revolve around the big items, such as engine oil changes and transmission services. Doing a check on your belts and hoses is fairly quick and simple. Do a visual inspection of them under proper light. Give a little squeeze and press on them looking for cracks and signs of wear. 

The extreme temperatures that your vehicle's engine experiences requires a dedicated cooling system. That is where your radiator comes in: It cycles liquid coolant through the system to keep your engine at a normal operating temperature. Without it, your engine would overheat and cause some possibly permanent damage that could even render it useless.

Over time, the cooling system will get dirty and will then require maintenance of its own. When that time comes, you will need to drain all of the old coolant out and dispose of it.

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that resides in the reservoir under the hood of your vehicle. When the brake pedal is depressed, the master cylinder pushes the brake fluid through the rubber lines that lead to your calipers.
