The power of electricity will be the law of the land for Volvo before too long. Volvo announced that it plans to abandon the combustion engine by 2019 to make way for electric vehicles.

Volvo noted that it will keep manufacturing gas vehicles, but we should expect to see them phased out over time.

While many manufacturers have dipped their toes into the pool with electric models, Volvo's decision to go fully-electric and put the past behind it makes it the first major automaker to make this push.

This will certainly be a process, but there are already things to look forward to on the horizon. Volvo plans to roll out five electric models between 2019 and 2021. While we don't have any details on these models yet, we're excited to see what lies in store.

Until then, we invite you to come visit us at our dealership in Alpharetta, GA to test drive a vehicle from our current lineup of new Volvo models. Swing by and see us today!
