A while back, we filled you in on the early stages of the Volvo autonomous driving project. Well, it looks like things are progressing nicely in the automaker's homeland of Sweden. Just this week a Volvo V60 hit the road all by itself. Well, there was surely a human in the dirvers' seat, but the wagon managed to do quite a bit of the driving on its own.

Erik Coelingh, Technical Specialist at Volvo Car Group, explains, "The test cars are now able to handle lane following, speed adaption and merging traffic all by themselves. This is an important step towards our aim that the final 'Drive Me' cars will be able to drive the whole test route in highly autonomous mode."1

While you wait for the technology you its way to America, why not try driving a V60 around the Atlanta, GA area for yourself? We've got plenty at North Point Volvo just waiting for you to get behind the wheel.
