With the self-driving SARTRE already in the works, it's no surprise that Volvo has another autonomous vehicle entering the prototype stage. It comes in the form of a V40, and it's like having a valet right there in the dash. So what does it do? Come along with North Point Volvo and we'll explore this new autonomous technology together, dear reader.

So you're just arriving at the grocery store and it's pouring outside. You would like to get in relatively quickly and without getting drenched but there are no parking spaces near the front. So what do you do? Well, with this prototype, you simply get out in front of the store, start up an app on your smartphone, and go inside while your car pulls away and finds a spot on its own. The new technology is already advanced enough that the car can avoid all pedestrians, vehicle, and other obstacles while finding an open space and parking in it completely driverless.

With sensors, electronics, and controls built into the car completely seamlessly, the self-parking V40 already looks like it's ready for the showroom floor. With this, the aforementioned SARTRE, and the 2014-slated XC90 with self-navigating steering wheel, it looks like the future of driverless driving for our favorite automaker is shining very brightly.
