Your Brake System is Dependent Upon Brake Fluid

Many drivers don't actually realize that their brake system is dependent on a fluid in order to bring their vehicle to a stop. Your brake system is actually a hydraulic system that requires having brake fluid in order to work.

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that resides in the reservoir under the hood of your vehicle. When the brake pedal is depressed, the master cylinder pushes the brake fluid through the rubber lines that lead to your calipers. The influx of the brake fluid in the system transfers force into pressure and causes the calipers to compress and squeeze your rotors, which is what slows your car, truck, or SUV down to a stop.

If you have any questions about brake fluid or your braking system altogether, then call and ask one of our service experts here at North Point Volvo Cars in Alpharetta. They are always happy to speak to our customers.
